FAQs on Admission Process and Eligibility

The College Board administers the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) in the United States. More details can be found at https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/whats-on-the-test.

You are not required to have SAT Subject Test scores for admission. Merit ranking for eligible candidates will be based on the SAT score (new format) and the other criteria specified.

We suggest that applicants take the SAT by March 2025.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their highest SAT score by the provided deadline, as this score will be used when preparing the admission merit list.

Applicants may include their SAT superscores on the application form, and BITS Pilani will consider the superscore in its admissions evaluation.

The Designated Institution (DI) code for BITS Pilani is 7759.

Admission notifications (including the first list of offers) will be announced on April 23, 2025, via the International Admission website (www.bitsadmission.com/ois). We encourage applicants to frequently check the International Admission website for new information.

Yes, BITS Pilani does have wait lists. Candidates will be officially notified on the official website.

An interview may occur before the final admission offer; however, it will not influence an applicant's Merit Rank. If they do not attend the interview, their application will automatically be cancelled.

BITS Pilani offers merit-based scholarships that provide tuition fee waivers of 15% - 80%. The initial awards are based on the applicant's position on the merit list. Successive awards are contingent upon academic performance at BITS Pilani.

English will be the medium of instruction for all lectures and official communications.

An application cannot be submitted without an SAT score and will therefore be considered incomplete. In the case of a qualifying examination only, if the grade 12 (qualifying examination) results are not available when an application is submitted, the Institution may offer provisional admission, subject to the other eligibility criteria. The institution requires the submission of grade 12 results within the specified time limits. Failure to submit grade 12 results will result in the cancellation of the admission status.

The academic year 2025-2026 is open for admission at the campuses of BITS Pilani - Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa and Hyderabad only.

A citizen of any country other than India may apply for either of the admissions processes, BITSAT or International Student Admission (ISA), provided they meet each of the eligibility criteria of both intakes at BITS. The ISA admission to BITS is also applicable to all three campuses of BITS Pilani —K. K. Birla Goa and Hyderabad. The timelines for BITSAT and ISA are different. Most foreign nationals require a student visa to study in India. Admitted students must apply for their visa at the Indian Embassy or Consulate in their home country.
