The Intellectual Property Enablement and Commercialisation (IPEC) at BITS Pilani is a central point for managing Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and facilitating Technology Transfer. IPEC's mission is to enhance innovation and ensure our research is commercially realised positively. Prof. Deepak Chitkara leads the program and has strategically and effectively managed both areas.

Our Mission

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)

The IPR Team provides essential support to faculty across all BITS campuses with their intellectual property needs. Below are the key services included -

Assisting the faculty throughout the IP life-cycle from submission of the Invention Disclosure Form (IDF) to liaising with external attorneys.

Helping with drafting, filing and upkeep of patents and other rights to IP.

Keeping the faculty aligned about the progress of their IP at every stage of the IP process.

Hosting workshops and other initiatives to boost awareness of intellectual property and its importance.

Technology Transfer

The Technology Transfer Team serves as a linkage between academic research and commercialisation. Their work concentrates on maximising the potential benefits of any innovations that have been developed by faculty in or with the institution. Core activities include -
