The BITS Computer Science Experience
The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS) at BITS Pilani strives to empower engineers of tomorrow through an advanced curriculum and research methodologies in all aspects of Computer Science.

Dr. Yashvardhan Sharma is a prominent professor and chair of the Computer Science and Information Systems department at BITS Pilani, Pilani campus. His research interests include Natural Language Processing (NLP) with a particular interest in areas such as Question Answering Systems, Fake News Detection and Machine Translation; Machine Learning based systems including budget and bid prediction for campaign optimisation; Software Engineering with a focus on Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) and Testing; and Software Application Development. Dr. Yashvardhan Sharma is principal investigator (PI) for multiple high-impact research projects funded by the UGC, DST, CommerceIQ and MapMyIndia. Noteworthy funded project areas include content-based recommender systems, multilingual conversational AI for customer experience, big data management, privacy preservation in healthcare monitoring and targeted advertisement campaign strategies leveraging AI.
